Positive Behaviour Support Bendigo: Empowering Lives Across Regional Victoria

At The Centre For Positive Behaviour Support (CPBS), we are passionate about helping individuals lead fulfilling lives through compassionate, evidence-based behavioural support. Serving Bendigo and its surrounding regions, our services are grounded in the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) model and the Multi-Element Behaviour Support (MEBS) framework, ensuring that every person receives tailored, respectful, and effective care.

Whether you're located in Bendigo itself or in nearby communities of Echuca, Castlemaine, Heathcote, Maryborough, Woodend or Kyneton, or all the way through to Stawell and Ararat, CPBS is here to support you or your loved ones in achieving greater independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

What Is Positive Behaviour Support?

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred, proactive approach to understanding and addressing behaviours of concern. Rather than focusing on punishment or control, PBS seeks to understand the underlying reasons for behaviours and to develop strategies that promote positive change.

At CPBS, we believe that behaviour is a form of communication. Our team works closely with individuals, families, and support networks to uncover the root causes of challenging behaviours and to build personalised support plans that foster growth, inclusion, and empowerment.

  • Respect and dignity for every individual
  • Evidence-based strategies tailored to each person’s needs
  • Collaboration with families, carers, and other professionals
  • Focus on skill development and quality of life

The MEBS Framework: A Holistic Approach

Our work is further enhanced by the Multi-Element Behaviour Support (MEBS) framework, which integrates multiple components to create a comprehensive and effective support system. MEBS is not a one-size-fits-all solution—it’s a dynamic, flexible model that adapts to the unique circumstances of each individual.

Together, PBS and MEBS provide a robust framework for helping individuals achieve meaningful goals, improve relationships, and participate more fully in everyday life.

  • Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA): Understanding the purpose behind behaviours
  • Skill-building strategies: Teaching alternative, positive behaviours
  • Environmental adjustments: Modifying surroundings to reduce triggers
  • Lifestyle enrichment: Promoting meaningful activities and relationships
  • Consistency across settings: Ensuring support is effective at home, school, work, and in the community
